Artist Management Contracts- just what is this fancy terminology all about anyway? Well, it is basically an agreement between a manager and a so-called "Rockstar" in the booming world of our music industry. It will most likely contain, of course, who the manager is, how much he gets paid, and when that process goes into effect, etc. Therefore, for dummies or should I say "in layman's terms", signing a management contract means signing a paper to hand a percentage of your money over to the person managing your Rockstar career and sometimes telling you what to do. Great huh? But wait, it has its own advantages too. In it, comes responsibility enhancement on your part being busy, famous, and all- this gives your manager the power to accept and sign gigs and contracts for you while you're out gallavanting somewhere. Mathematically speaking, an artist management contract is to money matters.
On serious terms though, there are a lot of artists/musicians/celebrities out there who do not have managers and end up having there careers ruined. That doesn't mean they should go out wild in search for managers and signing contracts. Oh no! These contracts are very intricate. You may sign something and later find yourself in the middle of a lawsuit. You have got to make sure somebody's there as a witness and READ THE FINE PRINT! Signing a management contract is like applying for a credit card- you need to know the details of everything, otherwise, you drown in debt!
So, whether you are a newbie in the music business, an amateur artist, a popular balladeer in your town, an infamous rock star, or just someone who loves to make music and aspire to be one- you need to check this for more information so as not to be mislead in any way by Recording Companies or Management Agencies, because I'm telling you, this is serious stuff!

In general though, If you ask me: If I was a Rockstar, considering disadvantage of parting with my money (lol), I'd hire myself as my own manager. But considering the positive, I'll hire my parents; they do a good job managing my homework, running my life and telling me what to do anyway. ;) They even manage my money! What more could I ask for???
Nothing really, except hope for the best...
